Family Story Club ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.

1. Data We Collect

• Account data: your email address, name, and password (stored securely by our auth provider).
• Storyteller data: the name an invited storyteller enters on the welcome screen.
• Recordings: audio recordings of stories, including any sound-effect data.
• Payment data: processed by Stripe — we never store your full card details on our servers.
• Usage data: anonymous analytics about how the app is used to help us improve.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To create and manage your account and subscription.
• To store, play back, and share recordings within your family.
• To send service-related emails (such as password resets).
• To maintain security and prevent misuse.

3. Audio Recordings

Recordings are stored on secure private storage. They are only accessible via signed playback links that you control. We do not make recordings public or share them with third parties except as required to provide the service (for example, our file storage provider).

4. Invited Storytellers

When you invite a storyteller, they provide their name. We only store the name they choose to enter. Storytellers do not need an account, and we do not collect their contact details unless they choose to provide them.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with trusted service providers that help us run Family Story Club (authentication, file storage, and payment processing), and only as needed to deliver the service. We may disclose data if required by law.

6. Data Retention & Cancellation

We keep your recordings, AI-generated stories, and invite links for as long as your subscription is active. When your subscription ends — whether through cancellation or non-payment — all of your family's data is automatically and permanently deleted. This includes:

• All recorded stories and their associated audio files.
• All AI-generated stories created by your family.
• All story requests submitted by your invited storytellers.
• All invite links associated with your account.

This automatic deletion happens at the end of your final billing cycle to ensure your family's personal data is not retained on our servers any longer than necessary. This is a deliberate data-security and privacy measure: we do not keep, archive, or reuse your recordings after you leave. This action cannot be undone.

7. Security

We use secure storage and signed URLs to protect recordings. Authentication tokens are used to verify access. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to use strong passwords.

8. Children

Family Story Club is designed for parents to manage on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Recordings are made by invited adults, not children.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. See our GDPR section for details on exercising these rights.

10. Cookies

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and will post the revised version here.
